Pain assessment and management

Pain assessment and management for children: A training module linked to the new WHO guidelines for persisting pain.

What is the course about?
This course looks at pain assessment and management in children and links into the publication of the new WHO guidelines for persisting pain in children. Following a brief introduction to the course, there are discrete modules which can be taken in any order, although it is advised to take them in the order in which they are presented. The course ends with a multiple choice assessment and we have also provided some guidelines for clinical placement and encourage participants to combine clinical with theoretical training.

Who is the course aimed at?
The course is aimed at doctors, clinical officers and nurses. We hope to develop one for counsellors, social workers, teachers, etc at a later date.

How do I register for the course?
You do not need to register for the course, however please complete your name and address when accessing each of the modules, along with the country where you work and your email address. This is important information for evaluating the pilot programme.

Will the course be evaluated?
There is an evaluation form to be complete at the end of the course – we would appreciate it if you could complete the evaluation form so that we can get your feedback on the course and continually try and improve it.

Will I get a certificate?
On successful completion of the course and passing of the assessment participants will receive a certificate of completion from ICPCN. Please note, if you do not include your name and email address you will not receive a certificate.

What if my internet speed is slow?
If you have slow internet speed then it is possible to access a low-resolution format of the training, although you will still need to be able to access the assessment in order ro complete the course and receive the certificate. (Please click here to access the low-resolution materials)

We hope that you find the programme helpful and look forward to receiving your feedback.
